Stephanie Tourles’ Seven Reasons to Attend the Mother Earth News Fair — Reasons #6 and #5

On Friday, September 20, the Mother Earth News Fair kicks off in Seven Springs, Pennsylvania. Here at Storey, we’re counting down all week long, and so is author Stephanie Tourles.

Stephanie’s got seven reasons the Mother Earth News Fair is a must-attend. Here are Reasons #6 and #5!

Reason #6: Great Food 

You can count on the food being oh-so-wonderful, fresh, and with lots of local ties. The edible offerings at these fairs run the gamut from delicious, piled-high subs and sandwiches, to Indian, Mediterranean, and Chinese cuisine, bar-b-que, out-of-this-world ice cream, fresh juices, and herbal tonics. I observe an approximately 90% vegetarian diet, am lactose intolerant, and can’t eat wheat/gluten, yet I have no trouble finding scrumptious dishes to suit my needs and desires.

Reason #5: Animals

What’s a country fair if there are no farm animals to see and pet? If you’re interested in raising animals or poultry for meat, milk, or eggs, or want rabbits, alpaca, or sheep for their fur or fleece, there are plenty of noisy, beautiful creatures to see and lots of information to glean from their owners.

Children especially love to see the great variety of beasts and birds on display at the fair.
