Raw Energy U.S.A

BookPeople, 603 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas

I’ve always been tuned in to trends, whether they involve music, fashion, or, most recently, what the new foodie movement is. So when I was assigned to represent Raw Energy by Stephanie Tourles, a raw-food snack-recipe book for everyone from the novice, health-conscious eater to the raw-food enthusiast, I was ecstatic.

Following the raw-food movement, the publicity department at Storey Publishing decided to send Stephanie on a two-week, nationwide book tour. The first leg started recently, and Raw Energy has been sweeping the nation.

The first stop was Austin, Texas, capital not only of the state but of live music and eating raw. We couldn’t have asked for a better launching point than BookPeople, the largest independent bookstore in Texas, which housed 40 eager audience members.

During the lecture, book signing, and demonstration, Stephanie was able to identify key nutritional components that come from snacking healthfully. One local college student went 100 percent raw and lost 20 pounds. He took a signed copy of Raw Energy home with him to continue his new lifestyle.

Besides losing weight, eating raw can also help boost energy levels and has been known to aid in combating certain cancers, she said.

There is a good range of recipes in the book, including the snacks highlighted on the road. Morning Power Shot, Herbal Energy Balls, and Raw Almond Energy Balls are just a few.

For Stephanie’s last tour schedule, be sure to check out her author page at Storey.com.
