A Recipe for Rose and Coconut Body Scrub

Three simple ingredients are all you need to make a nourishing, smoothing treat for your skin.

Rose has an uplifting, cheering, and calming effect on the spirit.
Flowers are a lovely Mother’s Day gift, but if you’re looking for a new twist on your usual bouquet of roses, try mixing up a jar of this moisturizing sugar scrub. Take it from us: you don’t need to be a DIY guru to make it.

The only required ingredients are sugar, coconut oil (commonly found in most grocery stores), and dried rose petals, which you can order online, if you don’t have a ready homegrown supply. We highly recommend Mountain Rose Herbs for sourcing organic ingredients.

Rose and Coconut Body Scrub

This scrub exfoliates the skin and moisturizes at the same time — perfect for the dryness that’s a by-product of climate-controlled environments.

Makes 8 ounces

Ingredients:
½ cup coconut oil
⅓ cup sugar of your choice (brown sugar is always nice and a bit different)
½ cup dried rose petals
1 tablespoon rose-infused oil (optional)

Directions:
  1. Mix the coconut oil, sugar, and rose petals in a bowl (I like to use my hands to mix — they get moisturized and exfoliated as I work). If the scrub is too oily, add more sugar. You want to be able to scoop this and spread it on your skin, so it’s really up to you to decide the consistency. Too grainy? Add some of your rose-infused oil. Mix it up.
  2. Scoop your scrub into a half-pint mason jar. Cap your jar, and go on being fabulous.
