Anne Guest: Postcard from the Backyard
I bought a piece of land behind my house last year, and Bob and I started clearing it out. Storey had published Vertical Vegetables & Fruit, and I liked the idea of free, funky tepees. As we cleared we saved trunks from sumac and some other small trees. We set up our first tepee and planted two kinds of peas in early May. It has room around it for other vegetables, to go in soon, and we've just started two kinds of beans on another tepee.
