Bloom Day: September 2012

Our nights have gotten colder, and the mornings are covered in dew — it is almost fall. Summer may be coming to an end, but Mother Nature is still blessing us with colorful blossoms and warm days.

Here is what is blooming around us:

Kristy Rustay, Ashuwillticook Rail Trail, Cheshire, Massachusetts:

Every morning that I run the Ashuwillticook Rail Trail, I admire the nature around me — the birds and other wildlife, the scenery, the flowers, and the changes of season. Today I brought my camera with me. The flowers and plants in these photos grow naturally along the trail and along the edge of Cheshire Lake.

Can anyone identify these wild flowers?

Anne Guest, North Adams, Massachusetts:

Perennial (unknown) viewed from my window

MaryAnn Nรธbben, Skammestein, Norway:

Violets with a friend.  Anyone know what it is?

Ligularia 'Desdemona'

Achillea

Lilium martagon

Geranium cinereum, two varieties of Heuchera

Anthemis tinctoria

Dame’s rocket, ginger mint, and my sister's favorite, peppermint

Lovely to see what's growing wild as well as in home gardens.
Interesting bug. And great roof garden!
