For 25 years, Storey Publishing has helped millions of readers discover the joy and satisfaction of doing more for themselves. Through an array of how-to books, Storey arms readers with practical skills and inspiration on a range of do-it-yourself topics: from gardening, cooking, knitting and other crafts to backyard building, animal care, farming, and home improvement. To date, Storey has sold more than 35 million books and has more than 400 active titles, 70 of which have sold more than 100,000 copies. Click here to learn more about Storey

THE CHALLENGE
Storey Publishing is looking for actionable new book ideas that provide practical information and encourage personal independence in harmony with the environment. The book ideas need to relate to Storey’s publishing categories, which include gardening, cooking, crafts, small-scale farming, building, brewing and winemaking, home improvement, woodworking, animals, nature, natural living, personal care, and country living.

The ideas generated could be either books that the winner would be qualified to write themselves, or the winner could be generating an idea whose author is not yet identified. In the former case, should Storey elect to publish the book, they would contract directly with the winner in their standard author-publisher contract. In the latter case, if Storey goes ahead to identify an author and develop the book idea, Storey would pay the winner a book development fee of $500. Storey reserves the right not to publish any of the submitted ideas and the participants acknowledge that some of the ideas that are generated may be ones that are already in Storey’s upcoming titles list and already underway.
