Why I Like My Job

If you were looking for me last weekend, you would have found me here. I and seven Storey authors journeyed to Seven Springs, Pennsylvania, for the first-ever Mother Earth News Consumer Fair. One of the organizers told me they were expecting at least 8,000 people to descend on the Seven Springs Resort for the weekend; in my estimation there were at least that many, just on Saturday. It was huge! Storey's authors spoke on sustainability; crafts; cooking, including preserving and canning; and animals. Here are some photos — but these are only a tiny piece of this amazing weekend:

Here's Andrea Chesman, author of Recipes from the Root Cellar,
demo-ing some roasted root vegetables for a hungry crowd.

Barbara Pleasant, author of Starter Vegetable Gardens
and
Mother Earth News editor, on a panel with heirloom
and heritage veggie guru William Woys Weaver

Carol Ekarius, author of Storey's Guide to Raising Sheep,
and the forthcoming
Fleece and Fiber Sourcebook,
in a rare quiet moment during her book signing

stood, overlooking one portion of the fair

You'll be seeing some posts this week and next from other attendees, but for my part I was thrilled to be included in this event, which I hope will be a yearly fixture. Go green!
